Chiltern Casting is one of Liverpool’s longest established agencies with Colette Fenlon-Byatt as its respected pioneer.
1989 began an exciting and incredibly busy period for Chiltern when a strong relationship with Dorothy Andrew at Mersey Television began. This was to span over fifteen years with carefully selected clients becoming household names in Brookside:
Paul Byatt - Mike Dixon,
Jennifer Ellison – Emily Chadwick
Philip Olivier- Tin head
Raymond Quinn- Anthony Murray
And many more…
The Leaving of Liverpool was a project between ABC and BBC and Colette was asked by Liz Mullliner Casting in Australia to set up workshops in Liverpool so as to audition for the parts of Bert and Lily. After months of searching Christine Tremarco and Kevin Jones from Chiltern School of Drama were chosen. The film won numerous awards in Australia and is still screened on BBC. Christine has gone on to appear in many television dramas and is currently a regular in Waterloo Road.
Jimmy McGovern’s acclaimed Priest was Colette’s next project for which she was casting agent for the younger roles. She also staged and choreographed the movement in this highly successful production.
Chiltern Casting then made the transition into management and became known as Colette Fenlon Personal Management. This new stage in the agency saw Colette successfully negotiate a recording deal for Jennifer Ellison with East West records. Jennifer went on to have two top ten hits. From her success in her recording career she then played Meg in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s movie version of ‘Phantom of the Opera’. Jennifer then went on to win Hells Kitchen and later played the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago.
Another long standing client and student, Raymond Quinn, won Best Screen Newcomer for his role in Brookside. His dancing talent won him the prestigious Janet Cram Boys award whilst attending Chiltern School of Dance and Drama. He then became runner up on the X factor in 2006, for which Colette also formed the group Eton Road. Raymond is now appearing as Doody in the West End production of Grease.
Colette recently received an MA from John Moore University and is looking forward to exciting projects in the New Year.
